The waves at Prince Edward National Park beach were strong, but looked awesome!
The next morning, the waves were still heavy, but the sky had turned to cloudy and eventually to clear.
Charlottetown is the capital and largest city of the Prince Edward Island, and the county seat of Queens County. Named after Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, queen consort of the United Kingdom.
Popular attractions within the city include the Province House, which hosted the Charlottetown Conference in 1864, the spirit of Confederation was born, ultimately leading to the founding of Canada.
Confederation Center of the Arts has a replica of the Province House and 20-minute video about the 1864 conference. The Center hosts many displays and a theater featuring the musical “Anne of green gables”.
St. Paul's Anglican Church has a wooden interior that looks like a upside down boat. The acoustic of the church is excellent.
Just a couple of blocks across, is the St. Dunstan's Basilica, with it's ornately decorated interior.
We left the island with a ferry ride along with our car, from Wood Islands, PEI to Caribou, Nova Scotia. This is a 75-minute cruise.
